A Legacy that Lasts for All Eternity

Throughout this Miss Eternity journey, one thought has always come to mind. 

It is the thought of what kind of legacy I will leave behind. 

In getting caught up in the things to do and things to overcome, 

I am continuously reminded that my thought process is wrong. 

It has and will never be about me or how I am to be remembered.

For there is only one Name that is worthy to endure forever. 

Apart from Him, I truly am nothing,

and it is clear to me now more than ever that His presence changes everything.

All throughout this journey, one thing keeps proving to be true. 

When God promises something, that He never fails to do. 

In the moments where my focus shifts from myself to Him,

His love immediately overwhelms me from the outside within. 

He has become the lover of my soul,

for all things fail in comparison, and He truly is the ultimate goal.

You see, a true legacy is not found in talents or trophies, 

but it's found in the One who enables us to live from glory to glory. 

To those who are after me, I would say, 

put Him first, and everything else will fall into place. 

To leave a legacy that will surely last, 

let the name of Jesus be what you hold fast. 

He is truly the only One that matters, for everything else will fade. 

Leave a legacy of loving Jesus, for His name is and always will be above all names.

In writing these words, I am reminded of David, who is a man after God’s own heart. In Psalm 27:4, he declares, “one thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in his temple.” David exemplified throughout his life that his highest priority was the presence of God, and because of this, he left one of the most profound legacies of royalty in the history of mankind.

I am reminded of Mary of Bethany, for in the midst of busyness and a world that pressured her to strive, she chose to sit at the feet of Jesus. Luke 10:42 then reveals how Jesus saw this: “Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Her story helps us to remember that choosing God, regardless of the circumstances, responsibilities, and distractions, is the most valuable choice we can make.

Even the story of Joshua comes to mind. In his younger years, he demonstrated a deep love for the presence of God. He did not depart from the tent and refused to depart from where God dwelt. In Exodus 33:11, it says, “The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.” As Joshua cherished the presence of God above all else, it was evident that the presence of God cherished him. Later, he led the Israelites to victory after victory. The battles he faced were not won by strength or strategy alone, but because God was always with him. His life shows that true victory is found in the presence of God alone.

In this journey of learning how to invest in the eternal things, I have found that the pursuit of God’s presence is truly the only way to do that. Positions, awards, and recognition are fleeting, but the impact of a life intimate with Him lasts for eternity.

Practically, seeking God’s presence simply means taking time each day to be with Him. This can be through prayer, worship, meditation on Scripture, and even quiet reflection. Relationships are nourished by communication and quality time spent with one another. How much more can our relationship with the Lord? The greatest investment one can make daily is choosing to make Him the One Thing that matters most.

The words of Jesus can be found in John 15:4-5, “Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in Me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.”

How beautiful it is that when the presence of Jesus is our highest pursuit, we then bear everlasting fruit that enables us to partake in His legacy that will last for all eternity.
